The Chapleau Crown Game Preserve (CCGP) is 2 million acres of protected land located Northeast of Lake Superior near the town of Chapleau. The area is home to various First Nations communities as represented by the Northeast Superior Regional Chiefs Forum (NSRCF). Founded in 2008, the NSRCF is composed of the chiefs of the six First Nations sharing an interest in the CCGP. Its vision is to “reclaim the rightful place as our member communities as land stewards and equal partners within Canada’s constitutional fabric, starting with the CCGP and spreading elsewhere within the territory as opportunities arise.”
